Officer Grade Determination Victory for Colonel Preserves O-6’s Rightfully Earned Retirement

November 2017

Pat Hughes represented an Army Colonel (O-6) who had received a General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand (GOMOR) and was subjected to an Army Grade Determination Review Board to determine whether he should be retired as an O-6 or reduced in grade.  Given the misconduct founded in the GOMOR alleging that the O-6 had defrauded the government by receiving Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) monies he was not entitled, Pat was able to show that the GOMOR was entirely unjustified and that the O-6 had done nothing wrong whatsoever. He further highlighted the distinct accomplishments of the O-6 which demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that the O-6 had served satisfactorily at that grade, thereby preserving the Colonel's pension and saving him what is likely to amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of his lifetime.
